Next Task – Long Running – Sunday 19th November 2017

Don’t worry – we won’t be competing with Mo Farah !!

This will be the first of two consecutive tasks at this very important site. The work will involve the thinning of birch and some holly on a strip of woodland on the west of the heath. This labour forms part of the City of London’s wood pasture restoration plan for the area. Some of the waste material will be burnt whilst any larger logs will be stacked to form habitat piles.

Ground conditions could be muddy in places and thus sturdy boots or wellingtons are strongly recommended.

NOTE : the City of London have now secured the rear access to the Warren and thus there is no vehicle entry to be gained from the Warren Road side of the premises. Arrangements have therefore been made to allow access via the front gate on the Epping New Road which will be manned to allow entry by vehicles from approximately 9.15a.m. When attending the tool store it is mandatory for all visitors that hi-vis vests be worn for personal safety.

MEET at The Warren, Loughton at 9.30 a.m. then to parking in Jack’s Hill North car park. (GR : TQ436996)

If you intend going direct to the site could you PLEASE, PLEASE notify the leaders IN ADVANCE so that sufficient provision is made for enough safety equipment and tools etc.
