Next Task – Upper Wake Valley Bog – Sunday 24th June 2018

We’ll be on high alert not asleep down here!

This task has been requested by Ken Adams and will involve removing bramble that has invaded the bog and the area of pendulous sedge (carex pendula). In addition we will be working to dam the stream with logs in order to maintain the water levels.

Ground conditions are likely to be damp and muddy and thus wellingtons or stout waterproof boots are recommended.

NOTE : the City of London have now secured the rear access to the Warren and thus there is no vehicle entry to be gained from the Warren Road side of the premises. Arrangements have therefore been made to allow access via the front gate on the Epping New Road which will be manned to allow entry by vehicles from approximately 9.15a.m. When attending the tool store it is mandatory for all visitors that hi-vis vests be worn for personal safety.

MEET at The Warren, Loughton at 9.30 a.m. then to parking in Wake Valley car park, Epping New Road. (GR : TQ423988) If you intend going direct to the site could you PLEASE, PLEASE notify the leaders IN ADVANCE so that sufficient provision is made for enough safety equipment and tools etc.
